Saint John approves 2 new residential projects

More than 220 additional residential units are on their way in Saint John.

Council approved rezonings for a pair of projects during Tuesday night’s meeting.

The first is a 140-unit development at Nason Road and Martha Avenue on the city’s east side.

The developer plans to construct two buildings on the site with 70 units in each.

As part of the approval, the developer will incorporate walkways connecting the buildings with the sidewalk on Martha Avenue.

They will also be required to implement traffic calming measures and provide a $1,000 payment for crosswalk upgrades at Mark Drive and Martha Avenue.

The second project will see 84 units built on Millidge Avenue just south of Boars Head Road.

A 34-unit building would be constructed first on the site, which is currently home to commercial space, followed by a 50-unit building.

Meanwhile, council also approved rezoning for a self-storage facility and vehicle rental at Loch Lomond Road and Commerce Drive.
