Saint John Council Passes Amended By Law For Taxi Industry

Changes are coming to the taxi by law for the city of Saint John and it could cost riders more money. In many cases, the zone fare was being charged if the metre fare was higher.

At the Monday Common Council meeting, the taxi advisory committee asked for greater clarity on the use of metres by cabs, the implementation of a permanent taxi industry program and better enforcement.

Council voted 5-4 to change the bylaw.
