Saint John EMO Moves Into Clean Up Phase

The City of Saint John is opening three Community Support Centres today where people impacted by flooding can get cleaning supplies, drinking water and well-testing kits.

They will remain open until May 5th.

Saint John EMO Director Kevin Clifford says wet items need to be removed quickly before mould sets in.

“Most importantly is to get the wet stuff out of their homes. Science and the history of flooding in High River and other places tells us that the mould will take root in 48 hours and when we says root, it will get to the core of your home.” Clifford said.

The Community Support Centres will be established at the KBM Community Centre on the Westfield Road, the Peter Murray Arena on the Dever Road and Fire Station #8 on Millidge Avenue.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to visit the City of Saint John website and complete the volunteer assistance forms, email floodvolunteers@saintjohn.ca or call (506) 658-2844.
