Saint John Energy Gets Funding For Consumer Product Study

Saint John Energy will get funding to design a study looking at its consumer products rental program to evaluate the efficiency to expand the program.

Customers can rent or finance energy-efficiency products like water heaters and heat pumps paying for them through their monthly electricity bills.

The study will review the program’s efficiency to date, environmental benefits and the on-bill financing method to determine if it can be replicated elsewhere.

Saint John Energy received $234,800 in funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund.

The Green Municipal Fund is supported by the federal government.

The Community Efficiency Financing initiative from the Green Municipal Fund helps communities implement innovative local financing programs that directly help homeowners cut greenhouse gas emissions, make their homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and affordable, and create local jobs to keep the local economy moving.

The Federal government of Canada has invested $1.65 billion in Green Municipal Fund since its inception, enabling municipalities to support projects like this that leverage local resources to drive innovative solutions.
