Saint John Is One Of Six Cities Used To Examine Poverty

Saint John will be one six across Canada to conduct of case study on poverty and the results will inform Ottawa’s national poverty reduction strategy.

Famillies, Children and Social Development Minister Jean-Yves Duclos in the Port City to announce the Tackling Poverty Together Project will begin in Saint John.

He says at the same time they will learn first hand what it’s like to live in poverty.

Duclos also spent some time touring the Crescent Valley with Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long.

Saint John owns the shameful stat of having the highest rate of child poverty in the country while Canada-wide 3 million people are living in poverty.
