Saint John launches immigration resource website

Saint John is making it easier for the region’s newcomers to find the resources they need.

The city and the Saint John Local Immigration Partnership (SJLIP) have launched a new website.

NewToSaintJohn.ca is described as a “no wrong door” gateway to the region’s immigration ecosystem.

“With this website, the City and community partners are focused on providing newcomers and potential newcomers with the resources they need in a one-stop, welcoming, easy-to-navigate format,” Kathryn Melvin, project manager at SJLIP, said in a news release.

Officials describe the website as a “go-to destination” for information over the first few years of settlement.

It lists all of the services and supports that are available in the Saint John region, including housing, transportation, language services, childcare, education, employment, and health care.

“It is relevant immigration-focused information aimed at improving the settlement experience,” said Melvin.

As part of its immigration strategy, Saint John wants to attract 12,000 newcomers to the city over the next decade.
