Saint John looks to make skate park more inclusive

Scooters, rollerblades, and bikes are now allowed within Saint John’s main skate park.

Council passed a bylaw last week paving the way for the change at the Station 1 Skatepark.

The park, located next to TD Station, is also being renamed the Station 1 All Wheels Park.

“By adopting a more inclusive name, the park aims to reflect its commitment to accommodating various wheeled activities, including skateboarding, scootering, and biking,” the city said in a news release.

“This renaming initiative not only acknowledges the evolving interests and preferences of the community but also emphasizes the park’s role as a welcoming space for individuals of all ages and skill levels.”

City officials said a new sign will be installed at the park at a later date.
