The Saint John Mill Rats are teaming up with Dealermine to host an event next month called “Rumble in the Station”, with the goal of promoting inner city sport.
Carol Kelly is the Mill Rats Director of Corporate Partnerships, she says six inner city youth groups will take part in the event.
Kelly says kids attending the event will receive a brand new pair of sneakers, a t-shirt, pizza and will also attend a Mill Rats basketball clinic as well as free tickets to a game that evening.
She says Hazen-White, Prince Charles, Divine Mercy Catholic School, Princess Elizabeth, King Edward and the rising stars youth basketball program in the south end will all take part.
Kelly says the purpose of the program is to overcome any barriers youth face when trying to get involved in basketball.
