The City of Saint John has turned to a familiar face to temporarily take on a top job at city hall.
Kevin Fudge will take on the role of interim chief administrative officer (CAO) effective Dec. 12.
Fudge is currently the city’s chief financial officer and chief of staff.
Fudge’s appointment comes on the heels of an October announcement that current CAO Brent McGovern would be departing the job.
Mayor Donna Noade Reardon said Fudge brings a wealth of experience, expertise and strong leadership abilities to the role.
Fudge has worked for the City for more than 18 years, including executive positions as commissioner of finance, deputy commissioner of Saint John Water and assistant comptroller.
“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Kevin for many years,” Reardon said in a statement. “I have no doubt that he will be a tremendous asset to both City staff and council members as we transition to the next chapter of leadership for the organization.”
Reardon expressed her gratitude to McGovern for his service.
“(He) has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the most transformative initiatives in our city’s history,” she said. “His thoughtful leadership and collaborative approach have propelled Saint John forward, creating lasting benefits for generations to come.”
