Saint John Nurse Launches Go Fund Me Page After Cerebral Palsy Diagnosis

A nurse in Saint John needs financial help after being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

Rebecca Mcmurrer just became a licensed practical nurse after graduating six months ago from NBCC. Mcmurrer says she’s had pain in her legs ever since she was a child and it wasn’t until recently that a specialist diagnosed her with the disorder, which mainly affects movment and muscle coordination.

“I’ve had a hard time being able to work for sure,” Mcmurrer tells us. “I think I may have to look into other types of employment, maybe a office job or something like that because being on my legs this much just isn’t really working.”

Mcmurrer has started a Go Fund Me page in the hopes of raising enough money to help her pay for things like an ankle-foot orthotic, wheelchair, specialized footwear, a walker, and a new shower handle.

She’s hoping to raise $5000.
