Not paying full attention while behind the wheel is the focus of Saint John police for this year’s national police week, which has officially kicked off.
Sergeant Chuck Breen says that the theme is education and awareness on the danger of distracted driving. Their message to drivers? Just drive.
“Hands on the wheels and eyes on the road,” says Sergeant Chuck Breen.
“Information will be distributed to motorists by both our community response team and our traffic unit throughout the week along with community engagement.”
The danger of distracted driving has been compared to impaired driving.
The fine for distracted driving is just over $172.
National police week runs May 15 to May 19.
