Saint John Police Force dealing with phone scam

Saint John police are dealing with an increase of calls coming into their non-emergency line due to a phone scam on Monday.

Police issued a public alert on Monday evening, saying a “high volume” of calls are coming in from around the world as a result.

“Due to the increased call volume, you may experience longer than normal wait times,” said the release.

“For your non-emergency request, we would ask for your patience at this time as we work through this incident.”

Anyone with an emergency who needs immediate response should call 911.
