Saint John police investigate uptown arson

Saint John police say they are investigating an arson at an uptown building.

First responders were called to the 100 block of Union Street around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday.

“Upon arrival, police discovered that the wood on the side of the building was on fire,” police said in a news release.

“The fire was quickly extinguished by the first responding officer before it had a chance to spread any further.”

While no one was hurt in the fire, there was considerable damage to the side of the building.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area who has video surveillance of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
