A man is facing multiple charges including two counts of assaulting police after they were called to respond to an argument in uptown Saint John.
Callers to police said a man was holding a woman against a wall on King Street.
When police talked to the man, he reportedly became combative and the 24-year-old was then placed under arrest and put in handcuffs. He kept fighting with officers by kicking and biting as he was taken to detention. A Saint John police officer had to get medical attention after receiving a bite wound to the hand.
Police also detained a 23-year-old man who was found uptown, very intoxicated. They searched him and found a set of brass knuckles and he’s required to go to provincial court to answer to a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.
