Saint John police say the 2024 Festive R.I.D.E campaign was another success in reducing impaired driving.
Officers conducted 708 breath tests throughout December as part of their efforts to keep roads safe.
The campaign resulted in eight arrests for impaired driving, a similar number to what was seen in 2023.
In addition, 16 seven-day suspensions were also issued and 14 vehicles were impounded.
In total, 6,250 vehicles passed through their checkpoints during the campaign.
This has been the lowest number of vehicles passing through Saint John police checkpoints in the last three years.
The highest recorded number was in 2023 with 11,138 vehicles passing through checkpoints.
The police plan to continue conducting random impaired driving checkpoints throughout 2025 to maintain road safety.
