Saint John police to hold bicycle safety rodeo

Saint John police are teaming up with a local business to help promote bicycle safety among youth in the city.

A bicycle safety rodeo will take place for youth aged four to 12 in the Crescent Valley neighbourhood on Friday afternon.

Community engagement officers will perform safety presentations, as well as doing helmet checks and bike fittings.

An obstacle course will be set up to instruct proper starting and stopping, figure eights, weaving and emergency stops.

Representatives from Haywards Bike Shop will be on site inspecting and performing maintenance on bicycles.

The event will take place at the basketball court on Taylor Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m.

Youth must be accompanied by an adult or guardian and must bring their own helmet and bicycle.
