Saint John Rapids Jr A Male Side Shine Against Halifax On the Road

The Saint John Rapids capped off an outstanding road weekend Sunday afternoon with a commanding 9-5 victory over the Halifax Hurricanes, showcasing balanced scoring, relentless pressure, and another dominant offensive performance from Felix Harding.

Less than 24 hours after an emotional high-scoring win over the St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels, the Rapids showed no signs of fatigue as they stormed into Halifax and controlled the game from the opening whistle. With the victory, Saint John completed a perfect weekend and continued building momentum early in the ECJLL season.

The Rapids came out flying in the first period and immediately put the Hurricanes on their heels. Felix Harding opened the scoring early before Carson Saunders buried another to give Saint John a quick advantage. Ben Rooney and Ben Alchorn added goals before the end of the frame as the Rapids exploded to a 4-0 lead after the opening period. The fast start allowed Saint John to dictate the pace and force Halifax into chase mode for the rest of the afternoon.

Halifax attempted to respond in the second period, but the Rapids continued to answer every push with disciplined play and timely offence. Harding once again proved impossible to contain, controlling possessions and creating scoring opportunities every time he stepped onto the floor. By the end of the afternoon, Harding had recorded four goals and three assists in another spectacular seven-point performance. His third-period hat trick marker effectively put the game out of reach and silenced the Halifax comeback attempt.

The Rapids offence was once again powered by contributions throughout the lineup. Ben Rooney continued his strong weekend with another four-point effort, while Sawyer King added four points of his own and consistently generated pressure in transition. Chase Aldridge chipped in with a goal and an assist, providing another steady offensive presence as Saint John kept the Hurricanes defence scrambling throughout the contest.

While the offence grabbed attention, the Rapids also delivered an impressive defensive effort against a dangerous Halifax attack. Goaltender Ethan Rowbotham came through with several key saves during critical moments, especially when the Hurricanes attempted to close the gap midway through the game. The defensive unit remained composed under pressure, limiting second-chance opportunities and helping preserve Saint John’s lead.

One of the biggest storylines of the game was the Rapids’ ability to maintain their intensity despite playing their second game in less than a day. After an exhausting and emotional 18-14 battle against the Rebels on Saturday night, Saint John showed maturity and focus by delivering one of their most complete team performances of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The Rapids controlled possession, pushed the pace in transition, and capitalized on their scoring chances while staying disciplined defensively. Every time Halifax threatened to gain momentum, Saint John responded quickly and prevented the Hurricanes from building sustained pressure.

With back-to-back road victories now secured, confidence continues to grow inside the Rapids locker room. The offence is firing, contributions are coming from across the lineup, and the team is proving it can win in multiple ways. If Sunday’s performance was any indication, the Rapids are quickly emerging as one of the most dangerous teams in the ECJLL this season.
