Saint John Remembers the Era When Zeppelins Promised to Transform World Travel

Airships of the 1920s-1930s were supposed to be the way to travel around the world even replacing ocean ship liners .The most famous airship was the German Hindenburg which passed over Saint John. Children were let out of school to see it. In 1937 it crashed in New Jersey. A German airship is called a Zeppelin,named after its inventor.
