It is only a matter of time before Saint John declares its first overnight parking ban of the season.
Temporary overnight parking bans can be declared in the city when snow clearing is required.
Parking bans are typically declared the day after a storm in the south-central peninsula.
For the north, east and west areas of the city, they usually happen the following night.
Residents have a responsibility to secure off-street parking whenever parking bans are called.
If you live in the south-central peninsula, three off-street parking lots will be available for overnight parking only when a ban is in place.
Those parking lots will be open from 6 p.m. the night of the ban until 7 a.m. the following day. On weekends and holidays, residents have until noon to move their vehicles.
The Peel Plaza Parking Garage also offers south-central peninsula residents an overnight rate of $5 between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. during parking bans.
For residents living in the north, east and west areas of the city, you must make alternate arrangements to secure off-street parking.
Parking bans are issued by 3:45 p.m. on the day of the ban. You can sign up for email notifications through the city’s website.
