Water levels in the Saint John River have exceeded flood stage in Gagetown and are expected to remain there until Sunday.
The river is expected to peak 50 centimetres above flood stage on Friday before slowly falling in the days following.
New Brunswick EMO says river levels are also expected to slightly exceed flood stage in Saint-Hilaire on Thursday and Jemseg on Friday before starting to fall again.
“The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization is not anticipating widespread flooding effects in any communities given the current forecast but is ready to respond if the situation changes,” said the organization in a statement Wednesday.
In the Saint John area, water levels are expected to remain below flood stage and slowly fall over the coming days.
New Brunswickers are reminded to keep watercraft off rivers, avoid the banks of waterways, and move belongings to higher ground if their property is near a waterway or prone to flooding.
