Saint John-Rothesay MP Confident Energy East Will Be Built

Amid speculation about whether the proposed Energy East pipeline has a future with all this talk about climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the new M-P for Saint John-Rothesay Wayne Long says the pipeline is in the national interest and he is confident it will be constructed.

Catherine Abreu of the Ecology Action Centre warns millions of dollars will be spent on something that will become, in her words, a stranded asset which she explains will be irrelevant in a couple of decades.

Long says oil revenue is a large part of the federal budget and it’s good for the whole country. He claims the Liberal government has said that product has to come to market.
