Saint John-Rothesay MP Says Energy East Debate Should Not Be Politicized

Opposition is building in First Nation communities against the proposed Energy East pipeline project due to fears over environmental concerns and pipeline safety.

Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long says he’s not surprised by the opposition but every group will have input on the process.

He says the Energy East debate should not be politicized and the rhetoric and emotions should be kept to a minimum, “and let people have fair input, let people feel that the process is fair and open and then at some point the government’s going to have to make a decision.”

TransCanada is holding an open house later this week in Saint John.
