Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending his government’s choice to run a much-higher-than-promised $29.4-billion deficit in the coming fiscal year.
Saint John-Rothesay M-P Wayne Long says the enhanced child tax credit will help families struggling to make ends meet, pointing out a single parent with two children getting by on a net income of 30 thousand dollars will receive 6 thousand dollars more a year.
Long says the infrastructure spending will generate more economic growth and create jobs in the riding. He sees his job now as securing as much of that infrastructure money as possible.
Long, who has a background of many years in business, maintains the federal government will gradually pull out of the deficit in 4 or 5 years time.
