Saint John sees growth in building permits, housing

Saint John experienced a notable increase in development throughout 2024.

The city issued 707 building permits, approaching numbers from 2019.

A total of 435 new residential units were also created, according to the city.

Looking forward, there are 20 new upcoming projects with over 1,600 more residential units planned.

Construction projects in total for 2024 were valued at $156 million, well above the five-year average of $113.5 million.
