Saint John stabbing victim dies in hospital: police

Saint John police say a man who was allegedly stabbed in the south end has died from his injuries.

Officers were called to a reported stabbing at a Mecklenburg Street apartment just before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.

“On arrival, officers located a 34-year-old man injured inside an apartment,” police said in a news release at the time.

The victim, identified as Robert Crossman, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police said he died from his injuries on Saturday.

A 30-year-old woman, who was known to the man, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault.

Police said the accused returned to court on Monday, where the assault charge with replaced with a manslaughter charge.

She is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, Oct. 19, for election and plea.
