Saint John Transit multi-ride passes now cost more

Many transit users in Saint John are now paying more to take the bus.

Saint John Transit increased the price of multi-ride passes as of Jan. 1.

They now cost an average of 1.5 per cent more, with increases ranging from 35 cents to $1.95.

“Fare increases will allow the Saint John Transit Commission to address rising costs (for example, vehicles, fuel, maintenance, insurance) as the agency continues to expand service and introduce new technology and system enhancements,” Saint John Transit said in a news release.

Single cash fares remain unchanged at $3. Riders who use STJRides, the account-based mobile ticketing app, continue to save five per cent per fare purchase.
