Saint John has very unique challenges compared to other cities in the province.
It’s very big and very old making it very expensive.

He says size matters here when you consider we have more than 1300 lane kilometres to maintain in the city.
He adds we are often compared to other New Brunswick cities but in terms of size, Fredericton, Moncton and Rothesay fit inside Saint John.
Darling says the city of Saint John is a $200 million dollar business and that is how he approaches it every day.
He says it’s critically important for Saint John to grow our tax base, get more people living here and we have to control costs which will make our city more competitive.
