Salisbury residents pay tribute to veteran firefighter

A well-respected Salisbury volunteer firefighter was laid to rest over the weekend.

Capt. Tim Dryden passed away suddenly on Dec. 29 at the age of 45.

Dryden had been part of the town’s volunteer fire department for 27 years.

He was described as a social butterfly who had a great passion for the work he did.

“Tim was a boisterous and fun-loving individual. He always had a presence. He would take over a room with his laughter, jokes and storytelling,” Mayor Robert Campbell told our newsroom.

Residents lined Main Street on Saturday afternoon to pay their respects.

A procession of fire trucks travelled from the Salisbury Funeral Home to Fredericton Road, then from Homestead Road to Scott Road and back to the funeral home.

Riverview Fire and Rescue had its ladder truck with the Canadian flag raised at the intersection of Horsman Street and Main Street.

Firefighters and first responders from around the province took part in the procession.
