The New York Yankees snapped the Toronto Blue Jays 11 game winning streak with a 4-3 win. The Yankees are now half a game ahead of the Jays for first in the division.
The Boston Red Sox hammered the Seattle Mariners 15-1.
In the NHL
The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Jacques Lemaire as a special assignment coach. Lemaire coached 17 NHL seasons with the Devils, Canadiens and Wild.
The Anaheim Ducks have signed left wing Carl Hagelin to a four-year contract with an annual cap hit of $4 million dollars.
In the CFL
Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Michael Sam announced via Twitter that he will be stepping away from football for personal reasons.
