In Maritime Hockey League playoffs, Yarmouth and Woodstock opened their series’ with wins. The Mariners topped Valley 3-2 in triple overtime while the Slammers got by Miramichi 4-3.
In the NHL, Ottawa defeated the Islanders 2-1, Calgary dumped Toronto 6-3, Edmonton fell to Columbus 5-4 in a shootout, Anaheim got by Minnesota 2-1 and Dallas beat Washington 4-2.
