Scheer: More Government Oversight Needed

The leader of the official opposition says his party is ready to get back to work to pass the government’s proposed emergency legislation.

Conservative Andrew Scheer expects the emergency measures will be enacted Tuesday.

“We are here to pass the measures that the government announced last week, that should be the focus of the House of Commons today. Any conversation about new powers should not get in the way of assistance getting in the hands of Canadians,” Scheer said.

Scheer is calling on the federal government to hold meetings via teleconference so opposition members can provide government oversight.
