Members of CUPE Local 380, which covers school bus drivers, custodians and maintenance workers will be doing an information blitz on Friday in the north end and east end of Saint John.
They will be set up with a school bus and along with police will be handing out leaflets reminding drivers that they need to obey school, bus flashing lights and that stop sign cross arm.
Local 380 President Chris Watson tells us they will be on Chesley Drive between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m across from the Source Atlantic building and then in front of Bayside School on Bayside Drive between 2 and 3 p.m.
Watson says this is part of a provincial campaign and the recent loss of life at school bus stops in the US is a sober reminder that drivers need to follow the law when it comes to the children’s safety.
