Schools Are Closed

Because of the freezing rain and ice pellets in the weather forecast, all schools in the Anglophone South School District will be closed today.

Francophone South says its schools in Saint John and Quispamsis are closed today as well.

The community college in Saint Andrews is closed today.

It’s going to be a mixed bag of stormy weather with warnings issued about freezing rain and a lot of rainfall. Cluade Cote of Environment Canada says snow and ice pellets will begin early this morning in the Saint John region with freezing rain until this afternoon when the changeover to rain takes place.

There’s heavy rain in the forecast tonight with winds gusting to 70 kilometers an hour. There will be more rain tomorrow before the storm system passes around noonhour.

Cote says we could very well see more than 40 millimeters before it’s all said and done.

There will be several hours of freezing rain in Fredericton and Moncton before the changeover to rain.
