Schools Closed For The Day

Our first real snowfall of the season will be coming down today in the Saint John area from that storm which hammered Southern Ontario yesterday.

All schools in the Anglophone South and Francophone South School Districts have been closed for the day.

Richard Lafortune of Environment Canada says snow is expected from early this morning until late afternoon which it mixes with rain. He predicts a solid five centimeters of snow on the ground by 3 this afternoon and as much as 8 centimeters for the afternoon commute. The precipitation is expected to end by mid evening.

Winds will be gusting as high as 50 kilometers an hour. Snowfall amounts will be under 15 centimeters but there is a heavy snowfall warning in place for Moncton.
