Sea Dogs defenceman Thomas Chabot has made a lasting impression on the city over the last four years, but especially for a local Saint John couple.
Jessica Legacy and Adam Barton were given a memory they’ll never forget after Chabot gave them one of his sticks during the President Cup Finals.
Legacy would always joke around with her boyfriend Adam about wanting to steal one of Chabot’s sticks.
That’s when Barton decided to make a sign as a joke and surprise her with it before the game.
He says the look on her face was priceless and some of the players out on the ice even noticed the sign and were laughing as well.
Legacy says after warm-ups, one of the assistant equipment managers came up to her and gave her a signed stick from Thomas Chabot.
He also brought over a note from Equipment Manager David Kelly who wanted a picture of the two with Chabot’s stick.
She says she was so happy that she had tears of joy running down her face.
The local couple are big Sea Dogs fans and haven’t missed a playoff game this year.
The Sea Dogs swept the Armada in four games and Thomas Chabot was named playoff MVP.
Chabot and the rest of the Sea Dogs will be heading to Windsor, Ontario next week to take part in the 2017 Memorial Cup.
