Sea Dogs General Manager Darrell Young announcing Saint John Sea Dogs forward Mathieu Joseph will miss the next 2-3 months after sustaining a cut to the back of his left leg that required surgery.
Joseph suffered the injury early in the first period of Friday’s series ending overtime victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
He was transported to hospital and had surgery on Saturday to repair serious damage to his calf muscle and he’s expected to make a full recovery.
The Sea Dogs face the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Round 2.
Game 1 Thursday at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station. Game 2 is Saturday at 8 p.m.
