The Saint John Sea Dogs have suspended in-person activities after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team announced the positive test Thursday afternoon.
Players and staff will now be isolated and any members of the organization who have been in contact with the infected person will be tested.
“Public Health Officials have been contacted by the League,” said the statement. “They are exploring the nature of all contacts between players and staff. Any additional findings will be shared with the team and the League.”
The Saint John Sea Dogs began a three-game road trip Wednesday night against the Cape Breton Eagles. According to the statement, the Eagles will not be competing until the investigation by Public Health is complete.
Five upcoming games between Nov. 20 and 25 involving Saint John or Cape Breton have been postponed. That includes Friday’s games between Cape Breton and Moncton and between Saint John and Charlottetown; Saturday’s game between Cape Breton and Moncton; Monday’s game between Saint John and Acadie-Bathurst; and Wednesday’s game between Moncton and Saint John.
