Search Scaled Back For Missing Grand Manan Man

Mounties say the search for a missing 41-year-old man from Grand Manan is now being considered a recovery effort.

Thomas (Tommy) Lundie was last seen at the end of Red Point Road around 10:45 p.m. last Thursday.

A number of agencies and volunteers have been searching for Lundie over the past several days, including members of several provincial Ground Search and Rescue teams.

But RCMP Sgt. Christopher Henderson said despite extensive efforts, they have not been able to locate him.

“While the investigation is ongoing, information gathered has led us to believe there is a strong likelihood that he could be in the water,” Henderson said in a news release Tuesday. “Without further information or leads as to a more exact location, our active search is being scaled back.”

Lundie is still considered a missing person and police continue to be in contact with his family, he said.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Grand Manan RCMP detachment at 506-662-1210.
