Second Appeal Court Date Set For Convicted Killer

Another hearing date has been set in the New Brunswick Court of Appeal for convicted killer Marissa Shephard.

The 23-year-old is appealing her May 2018 first-degree murder sentence in the death of Baylee Wylie.

Details of her appeal were heard in Fredericton on June 19, but a judge reserved their decision until a later date.

A further date has been set for August 14.

The appeal claims the judge erred in law when allowing hearsay videotaped statements of Devin Morningstar, who was also convicted of first-degree murder in Wylie’s death.

Shephard is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole.

Tyler Noel also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the same case.
