Self Serve Regular Rises In Price In Spite Of Slump In World Price Of Oil

The world price of oil is just over 35 dollars U.S. a barrel which has led drivers to expect much lower prices at the pump.

Those drivers who fill up with self serve regular will be disappointed to learn the maximum price of self serve regular has increased after the weekly setting by just over half a cent a litre.

Self serve regular in Saint John this morning was selling for 97.6 cents a litre with diesel at $1.04. The maximum price of diesel is down by 5 cents a litre as is the price of heating oil.

An economist with BMO said this week with the price of oil this low on the world market, well below 40 dollars a barrel, we should be paying around 80 cents a litre to fill up.
