“I looked up at the upper levels and they seemed to be full this year. I would say we had about 7000 people if you count the people standing in the concourse as well.” Cormier said.
He says they need younger veterans to take part in the service or it will deteriorate with the number of veterans able to participate grows smaller with every year.
“That word ‘veteran’, for some reason, seems to be linked with the First World War, Second War and maybe Korea but, beyond that, they don’t see themselves as being a veteran,” Cormier said.

92-year-old Navy veteran Aubrey E.F. Moore, CD served as a reviewing officer during the ceremony.
He says he was very impressed.
“I am a supporter of the service and servicemen and women. I am so proud.” Moore said.
Moore was only 14 when he signed up.
“It was very important. My dad was in the service. I wanted to be part of it.” Moore said.
He served on the freighter Rockwood Park where he shovelled coal.
He was humble about his military career about taking part in the service.
“I feel there are other people who are more deserving,” Moore said.

Bernard Cormier says Saint John has a very strong team putting the service together with all the different military units involved.
“It’s the people behind the scenes that do all the work,” Cormier said.
