A fire in a three-story apartment building in Saint John’s north end has displaced at least seven people including four kids.
The fire was reported just before midnight on Monday at 20 Kennedy Street and originally came in as a fire caused by cooking that was extinguished.
“The damage at 20 Kennedy Street was minor to the structure but there was some smoke damage to the apartment of origin,” says platoon chief Steve Voutour.
“As well as the apartment above it and a result the Red Cross was called in to attend.”
The Red Cross is helping out those seven people with a place to stay and other required support.
There was also another fire at 451 Millidge Avenue at 12:53 pm that day, also described as minor in nature, and firefighters determined fire burned itself out. Three people have been displaced due to smoke damage.
