The latest winter storm system has arrived on our doorstep with the flakes falling and strong wind gusts.
Doug Mercer of Environment Canada says snow at times heavy will change to wet snow this afternoon with 10 to 15 centimetres expected and winds gusting up to 70 kilometres an hour along the Fundy coast.
“This evening it’s going to switch over to rain and then to occasional flurries and rain showers after midnight and just a few more millimetres of rain and maybe another scatter of snow,” says Mercer.
Saint John remains under a special weather statement but the surrounding areas, including the KV, are under snowfall warnings.
There’s a second weather system forecasters are keeping an eye on that looks like it’s hitting later on Friday into Saturday. The weather agency says snowfall amounts with this one may be significant possibly reaching the warning criteria.
