New Brunswickers are coming together on Wednesday to support ill and injured veterans and serving members.
Riverside Country Club in Rothesay will play host to the annual Soldier On Atlantic Golf Invitational.
The event, now in its third year, is sponsored by the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
Jake Bell, past chair of the New Brunswick and P.E.I division of the Corps, said funds raised will support the Soldier On program.
“It’s designed to help soldiers get out with people who are going through a similar ordeal to them and just forget about some of the day-to-day issues that they’re dealing with and enjoy a recreational activity,” Bell said in an interview.
Eighteen teams will participate, and each team will include one injured veteran from the program.
The annual event in Rothesay has raised around $175,000 over the past three years, according to Bell.
Community members are invited to attend the event for an up-close look at Canadian Armed Forces equipment on display and to watch the flyover of a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CH-146 Griffon Helicopter at 12:30 p.m.
