Some Darling’s Island Residents Call For A Permanent Fix

The entrance to Darling’s Island is lined with many vehicles as the road remains closed and it’s expected the water level will increase this week with more rain in the forecast.

Paul Thompson built his home up keeping the flooding threat in mind.

He thinks there could be many solutions to fix the road.

He says he’s not sure if it requires an engineering study because common sense will tell you that this area is low and this is high and if the road followed the line of the telephone poles then we should be fine.

Fred Lynch also lives on the Darling’s Island road. He’s used to the flooding and he hasn’t seen any damage to his house over the years.

He says he doesn’t have a basement and if he had put one in it would be full of water.
