Warm temperatures and melting snow have prompted a warning from River Watch about the St. John River basin.
Several areas along the river are at risk to reach flood stage in the coming days including Quispamsis/Saint John, Fredericton, Jemseg, Oak Point and more.
You’re being reminded to avoid banks near waterways as they are dangerous this time of year, stay away from the edge of the river when walking and don’t take the boat out yet either — currents are strong and could carry debris.
You’re also reminded to think about moving your things to higher ground if you live near a waterway or in a flood-prone area.
To report ice jams or any issues having to do with rising water, call 1-800-561-4034.
