Phillips was remanded into provincial custody on June 28th and will receive 48 days credit towards his sentence.
Judge David Walker says Phillips will be required to submit a DNA order and will become a registered sex offender.
Walker determined Phillips was guilty after going through Facebook messages that contradicted Phillips’ claim that he was just a mentor to the young boy.
Phillips will serve his sentence in a federal prison and will also be prohibited from owning firearms for ten years
The two met up on eight separate occasions and had roughly 31 conversations on Facebook, which included Phillips agreeing to purchase a drug pipe and liquor for the boy.
