A husband and wife team from Nova Scotia are the new McDonald’s franchisees opening a store in St. Stephen, N.B. next week.
Ashley and Gary Wager bought the Oromocto location taking it over on July 1st and got the keys for the Route 3 store in Bordertown on August 1st.
Ashley Wager says the community of St. Stephen has opened their arms to welcome them.
“The excitement in the community has been overwhelming. We appreciate everyone and we are excited to get open for them. We’ve been able to meet a lot of people locally and a lot of people stop in daily to see when the restaurant is going to be open.” Wager said in an interview.

Wager says the hiring process continues.
“We hired our first grouping of people, about 22 employees, who are through their training quite a bit now. We had a hiring day on Tuesday and we hired 18 people. We are working on their training right now.” Wager said.

The new McDonald’s is part of a development that also includes an Ultramar gas station and an On The Run convenience store.
Wager says if all goes according to plan, the doors will be open on Monday, August 12th, 2019.
