Brunswick News has released a statement in response to yesterday’s layoffs.
The statement comes from Jean-Claude D’Amours, who is the Regional General Manager. He says the decision was made in an effort to help the company adjust to a new technological reality, helping to ensure that they remain competitive in a media world that is constantly changing.
The statement says Reporters now have the technology to quickly and easily take pictures, and deliver quality content to the readers.
He says the staffing changes are in line with the long term strategy of digital transition and are also aligned with similar changes by other media publications.
