Stolen Car Winds Up In St. John River

Two people face several drug charges after failing to stop for police.

The pursuit began in the north end near Seeley Street and continued through Simms Corner and ended on the Westfield Road where the driver lost control and wound up in the river. A 28 year old man and 33 year old woman were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It was later discovered the car was stolen and the two were charged with possessing stolen goods worth more than $5 thousand.

The man is facing charges of possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking crack, obstruction, prohibited driving, fleeing police and dangerous driving.

The woman will face additional charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking meth, obstruction and possession of marijuana for a total of 12 charges.
